Yes. We’re more than happy to provide a demonstration of our machines via appointment. Although we try to keep a variety of machines in stock, due to the large range we offer and size of the machines, we can’t always have every model in stock. Fortunately, we do have some wonderful customers across the country that allow demonstrations of their machines.

Yes, open-table laser cutting machines are legal in Australia, but they must comply with Australian safety standards and Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations. Machines must meet AS/NZS IEC 60825.1 laser safety standards, and businesses operating Class 4 open-table machines must implement appropriate risk controls, such as protective barriers, operator training, and PPE. Additionally, proper ventilation and fume extraction are required to maintain a safe working environment. Always check with your local WHS authority for specific requirements in your state.

The electrical amperage required to operate a laser machine depends on its power rating. Low-power machines typically require around 20 amps, while high-powered industrial lasers can exceed 150 amps. Most mid-range machines run on a 20-amp circuit, whereas high-power models often require a three-phase power supply with significantly higher amperage. We recommend consulting an electrician to ensure your facility meets the necessary power requirements.

Nitrogen (N₂): The most commonly used assist gas, ideal for achieving high-quality, oxidation-free cuts. It prevents reactions with the metal, ensuring a clean, shiny finish. Nitrogen is preferred for stainless steel and aluminum cutting, offering higher speeds, better efficiency, and improved productivity.

Oxygen (O₂): Used for cutting thicker materials and enhancing laser power through an exothermic reaction. Oxygen increases cutting speed and reduces costs but can cause oxidation, leading to a carbon layer on the cut edge, which may affect coating or painting. Best suited for mild steel cutting.

Compressed Air: A cost-effective alternative that provides faster cutting but may leave rougher edges due to its oxygen content (21%). It’s suitable for parts that will later be painted or welded, though additional deburring may be required.
